Join A Leg Up Ballet Academy as they present the timeless comical ballet Coppelia.
Act 1 Our story begins in a quaint village where the eccentric doll maker, Dr. Coppelius, is working on his newest lifelike doll, Coppelia. Dr. Coppelius grows more and more frustrated as he believes that he is unable to make Coppelia move. Swanhilda and her friends notice the life like doll and mistake her for a live girl. When Swanhilda and all of the peasants in the village are unable to capture Coppelia’s attention as she pretends to read her book, Swanhilda decides that she and her friends will sneak into the doll maker’s shop to confront her.
Act 2 Swanhilda and her friends sneak around the doll maker’s workshop looking for the girl reading her book. To their surprise, they find that she is in fact a doll. With a little work, they are able to wind Coppelia up and have her dance. Swanhilda and her friends find the workshop filled with many beautiful dolls and enjoy winding them all up and having them dance. Dr. Coppelius is awoken by all of the commotion to see Swanhilda and her friends in his workshop and his dolls dancing around his workshop. When Swanhilda is able to show him that Coppelia is able to dance, he is so overjoyed that he allows the girls to dance and play with her.
